Who Are Your Mentors?

dear-fellow-learner

I’m coming to you live from the national portrait gallery down in the ACT. For those of you who don’t know this is actually where I grew up, I only moved to Sydney about 6 six years ago.

The thing I wanted to share with you is a comment that Confucius once said:

"One hour conversation with a wise person is worth 30 days in a library".

So I guess the question I have for you is who are your mentors? Do you have a clear list of them? One of the things that I recommend you do as result of this newsletter is write down 10 mentors that either you would like to get to know or like to find more information about.

One of the easiest things to emulate in a mentor is the times they get up in the morning and they go to sleep at night. So one of the first things you want to find out about your mentor is what time do they wake up in the morning and what time do they go to sleep at night? Then set your alarm to emulate those times.

The next thing I request is to research a little bit about them...

  • What sort of food do they eat?
  • What do they do on weekends?
  • What sort of books do they read?

As you begin to learn more and more about your mentors it would be fair to say that you’re going to find success to be quite easy.

So go out there and find 10 people who are doing things you want to be doing at a bigger scale, they can even be comedians. One of my mentors happens to be Arj Barker so think outside the box. They don’t just have to be doing the type of business you’re in or the type of lifestyle you’re living they can be doing things of a different nature, an artistic nature, of a humorous nature.

So go ahead and write that list of ten mentors then pick one of them, find out when they get up in the morning and when they go to sleep. Once you’ve done that then do a little bit more research about them and go ahead and start to learn as much as you can about them because learning from their successes will certainly speed up yours.

This is the Director of Change coming to live from the ACT.
